During the summer, I loved Cambodian and Filipino food. Well, I still do, but more so when I was over there. To the left is a photo of a delicious Sunday afternoon spread that was devoured a few miles outside of Phnom Penh. The spot's name escapes me; nevertheless, families and friends buy a bunch of goodies from vendors, rent a rattan mat, and lay out everything on a canopied pier that juts into a sectioned off part of the Mekong river. There are at least two dozen piers, so you can imagine the crowd that this place gets. Pictured are steamed snails, chicken hearts, chicken thighs, spicy crunchy papaya, spicy beansprouts, fish (mackerel?), and steamed rice. MMM!
Snail attack! (Can you tell that this isn't posed?)
Turtles and chicken hearts/livers. Nope, didn't try the turtle.
