( '_' )

Wisdom teeth = gone. No eating.
Camera = Death by Beer. No taking pictures of food.
Now must rely on older photos. Bah!

Bakesale Betty's! If you take any of the AC Transit lines that goes down Telegraph, you've probably seen this quaint corner shop. Y'know, the place with the ironing boards for tables? Jes!
This is their fried chicken sammich!
Strawberry shortcake.
I'd probably consider it more like a scone with strawberries and whipped cream. Still yummy.
Couple o' delightful cookies

P.S. CA Supreme Court... sigh..

So tired, but...

The co-founder of Rockstar energy drinks has a foul, foul mouth.

WTH, Michael Savage, I'm so tired from the PP157 paper, I oughtta take out my exhaustion on you! ::proceeds to throw moistened banana peels:: Yeah, you better put them in the compost heap!

O_O

Wahhh, paper paper paper

You go, Shanna Moakler! [She was also a hefty opponent of Prop 8!]

Carrie Prejean, if I like, ever like, see you, like, I'm gonna go, like... I don't even know!

Balls to you, Ms. California!

Blegh, Carrie Prejean... still at it.

"Keith Lewis, the co-executive director of the Miss California pageant, said Prejean was attended to by gay beauty experts before the Miss USA contest, and that he always knew her to be friendly to gays like himself.
But Lewis said he was disappointed with her stance against same-sex weddings, and that while she keeps her crown as Miss California, she is speaking for herself on gay marriage."

Damn skippy!

20 April 2009

Buh..

Now, I don't know about you, but I think opposite marriage is just as big of a deal as same-sex.
...
Huh?

Oh, Carrie Prejean of San Diego, California...

Spuh-ringing breaking

My break was filled with all sorts of _______ (I suggest you fill in the blank). As turbulent, uplifting, and outlook-changing as it was, I still had to take pictures of my food. [Could you expect anything less?]

My dad brought me to a guerrilla family reunion on my first full day back in Los Angeles. I say guerrilla because it was sprung upon me like no other family gathering.
"Dad, I'm not ready to see anyone!"
"Hahahahaha."
"Really now? Laughing?"
This was one of my plates from some buffet in Alhambra. If you draw your attention to the top right, you will see a steamed bun that was filled, to my happy surprise, with red bean!

I went down to LA principally to support Equal Action (www.equalaction.org, folks!)
What a successful rally! The police assisted everyone by closing off the streets in Chinatown up to City Hall. =)
Yayyyyyy!

When I came back from LA, I took my friend to the Oakland DMV for her driving test. While needing to kill time, she and I stopped by a Jamba Juice, and I had had had to try their oatmeal.
I had my doubts. After all, Starbucks didn't exactly hit the spot.
But Jamba Juice's slow-cooked oatmeal (with steel-cut oats, I might add!) was awesome. I don't care too much for the super sweet fruit topping, but the brown sugar and oatmeal consistency are soo pleasant. [I also got that one pureed thing with granola and fruit... tasty, but I focused on its less assuming companion.]

Then Maria came up to Berkeley, and it was imperative to take her NorCal-loving self to Cheeseboard.
asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, bunch o' cheeses, herbs
I think she enjoyed.
The truck driver, too!
She also bought me my first avocado boba, which was pretty nutty in flavor, and you know how I enjoy my nuts! Now, I tend to like my old person boba flavors (taro, red bean), none of that hip, top 40 stuff ([insert super sweet or super fruity flavor]). The avocado hit the spot.
I can dig.

I ate a bunch of great food in Miami (Brazilian, Mediterranean, Subway [hahah]), but didn't take any photos! Blargh! Pero, comida de Miami = extra yum!

Gotsta support!

If you're in LA on the 22nd, I highly recommend that you come out.

Having a wonderful time

I stepped out of work on Friday evening to this beautiful sight:
I wanted to catch it on camera, but I don't know if I did the scene justice.
Sunset. Oakland. Fall-ish weather. Mmm!

After I got back from work, I hauled booty over to Safeway and Whole Foods for turkey ingredients and any other yummies I could find. The house had planned to go to SF for dinner, but I was so exhausted, I just plopped myself in front of the TV for some good Food Networkin'. This didn't last long. I fell asleep at about 8:30pm. I.am.so.hardcore.

But! On Saturday morning, Mike and I went to Oakland's Chinatown for comfort food!
[Woops! Not green onions!] Eat eat eat.

After this edible extravaganza, I made a semi-impromptu trip out to Sacramento to meet up with my brother and our good friend for a Prop 8 rally.
Dahlia, Kimler, Blobdizzle.
Such a brilliant flag to carry... look at his equally brilliant expression!
All the speakers were
awesome. [Sen. Darrell Steinberg and Margaret Cho, to name a few]
Alas, the excitement led to breaking my camera. If I remember correctly, a person from some APIA coalition was coming up to speak and in my excited frenzy, I somehow ended up throwing my camera right at the concrete. Yes, wtf?

I'll have to rely on my stock of other photos before I can return to my "Plogs in the Life" motion. New camera eventually!

The weekend was capped off with a Thanksgiving meal with the taiko fam bam. I love them all to pieces and love seeing them well-fed.

From Jay..

Shepard Fairey, the artist behind the Barack Obama "HOPE" poster, has created a new poster, “DEFEND EQUALITY, LOVE UNITES” to raise awareness and funds for the movement to overturn CA Proposition 8.
Print and share.

Upright Citizens Brigade

Let's protect the sanctity of marriage, folks!

More on that ridiculous proposition

This was passed on to me by Jay Benoit, a perennial mentor of mine.

"So I be written in the Book of Love; I do not care about that Book above."

We won't stop just yet

Damn you, Prop 8. If you were a part of the opposition, you'll probably be interested in signing this.

And courtesy of patrickmoberg.com through my home slice, Paul.
Of all the things I've read and seen, this one brought me to tears. Light-hearted reality with a smattering of jest is sometimes the best way to pull at the heartstrings [See: my reaction to The Royal Tenenbaums].

Oh, Mondays

Actually, this Monday was rather okay. A little hectic, a little cold, but not bad in the least. But, if you feel like your Monday hasn't gone spectacularly well, take a gander at this:It's from Cabbages and Condoms in Bangkok. I had an awesome time in the gift shop. Mike and I stopped by the one in Chiang Rai, as well, but the one in Bangkok was even more memorable. The restaurant portions are generous, and I'd like to think the Republican-sized condoms were smaller.. teehee.

Now start having that blissful Monday!
